  • The horse project

It was March last year when we worked on the horse project together with a few other kids at our 4H club meeting. The whole experience was so interesting that I wanted to post about it, even though time has gone by so fast, and so many things happened since then. I got the horses template  and instructions from the website of artist Ann Wood. The horses are made out of thin cardboard, like the one in a cereal box. I painted the cardboard horses in solid base colors, and the kids added other colors and design elements to them. I provided the kids with paint, decorative paper, gems, trims, feathers, buttons, stamps, stencils, and a few other collage materials. The kids got really creative…

Here some of my favorite horses:

At home, before the meeting, Dan painted her dotted horses. Like some of the other kids, she painted quite a handful of horses.

Below, the horses on the wall, decorating our 4H booth.

We are very grateful to Ann Wood for sharing her project and template.

  • Puppy

We’ve got a puppy! Hard to believe, after so many years just thinking about it and wishing one day the dream would come true. Well, now he is here and his name is Cody, at least for now. He is a Golden Retriever. When we got it, he was only seven weeks old. He is now ten weeks and growing quite fast. The kids love him, of course! It seems we’ve had him forever, that’s how we feel having him around. He has certainly become part of the family. Welcome Cody!

  • Gingerbread House

As 2011 comes to an end, I have to confess this year was one of the craziest years of my life. I felt like I was running a marathon the whole time, and, worse than that, I felt like I was constantly falling behind…  I really hope 2012 will bring me some peace. Perhaps I can even dream of accomplishing some personal goals…

I just realized this is my last blog post of 2011 and I certainly hope in 2012 I’ll find more time to blog. I do enjoy sharing some of the things we do as a family, and things we do during our homeschooling, with family and friends. When I write, I often think of those family members living far away who we don’t get to see for many, many  years. Having a blog is my way of keeping in touch and of showing how much I care about them.

And so, let us keep our hopes high for this coming year!

For everyone reading this post, I wish you a wonderful New Year! Lots of blessings and lots of love for you and all those you love!

Below, some pics of the kids making a gingerbread house. They made it a few days before Christmas and they had a great time doing it. (Now, they are anxiously waiting for the holiday season to be over so they can eat the candy and the house!)

A big hug from all of us!
