Nicolas is turning 8!

Today is Nico’s birthday! The fact that he is now 8 haven’t sunk in yet! He is certainly a big boy now! He is growing and changing so fast… Yesterday I was feeling kind of nostalgic, thinking that his childhood years will soon be gone. Nevertheless, I’ve been trying to look at it in a more positive way.  He is becoming more mature and, hopefully more balanced. I will no longer need to be screaming and pushing him around and such… or so I  hope… Happy B_Day Nico!!!

(As a matter of fact, Nico really had a great day. He went to Legoland with his friend Troy. He got back in the evening, after dinner. Now we need to plan for his birthday party that will take place in a couple of weeks.)

Making orange juice

This was a very pleasant activity for Dani. She had fun going through all the steps, and being able to drink it at the end was a real treat!

Squeezing...

Stirring...

Pouring...

I missed the chance to take her picture holding the cup and tasting her fresh, homemade juice. She had a big smile in her face… and was so proud!

Valentine’s Day

Here are some pictures of our practical life shelf, with some Valentine’s inspired activities.

Cutting...

Dani was very proud of herself when she was finally done. I got this idea from this blog.

Rubbing Hearts...

Scooping...

Clothespin

Our morning actually started with some special heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast.

Nico wasn’t very much into pancakes, but Dani just loved it! She ate every bite with lots of joy!

yum-yum...

In the afternoon, we gathered with some of our homeschooling friends at the park. It was a very beautiful day.

The kids exchanged cards, decorated cookies with hearts and smiley faces… They sure had a great time!

And I can’t forget to mention the most delicious Valentine’s treat I’ve ever tasted: these homemade cake balls.

The white ones were lemon flavored. They were really amazing…
